Tree Plantation at Shanti Niketan II


Bharat Vikas Parishad Chetna under the dynamic leadership of President Prof Chander Shekhar Sharma, Secretary Dr Raghubir Singh & Finance Secretary Dr Harish Gautam on 5th June celebrated Environment Day in the month of June. It was decided to follow a ‘Tree Plantation Drive’ in the upcoming monsoon season in the month of ‘Savan’. The drive was named as ‘Van Mahotsav Festival’. The team explored various sites for plantation and contacts the sources who were interested in contributing tree saplings for the festival. Various members who took sankalp of making the tree plantation drive a success included Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Neeraj Jain, Prof Daljit (an active environmentalist & Head of the department of Geography), Prof Suresh Mago, Prof Rajiv Anand and many other local dignitaries.

A step further in execution of the ‘Van Mahotsav Festival’ the tree Plantation at Shanti Niketan II in Basant Hill Park at Hosiapur Road was held on 3rd August 2014. The even was organised in assoication with Madhav Seva Society (R). Mr Vivek Joshi (the man behind successful running of the philanthropic school for the society), Mr Mahesh Sharma, Ms Rajni and students of the society were present at the occasion. 27 saplings were planted namely Amaltes, Neem, Gulmohar etc.
